Mud Hens
Fifth Third Field, Toledo, Ohio.
2002 Mud Hens, yello cedar, cast aluminum and stainless steel, 40’ x 12” x 22’.
Designed to create a more human scaled entrance as well as complete a hierarchy of architectural forms these gateways create a building within a building. Eighteen-foot long Alaskan yellow cedar bats are used to describe a roof angle as the façade begins to take on a classical Greek architectural form. Sixteen-foot long wooden bats become the columns while cast aluminum baseballs and mitts form formal rosettes.
